There's something to this music, and you can see it in the audience at the show. The anticipation is tangible leading up to the performance. Getting in line at 11 am to be up front, and hopefully meet the singer isn't something that casual fans will do. The mass of people singing the songs word for word, like they've practiced a hundred times is what made this show really come to life.
Marina and her band are presented so perfectly, and sounded incredible at Kool Haus. Listening to a chorus of young people sing a song like 'Fear and Loathing' with Marina and the Diamonds was an inspiring thing. Listening back to those words, it's a very hopeful thing, and you can't always find that so easily in 2012. One can only imagine how much that meant to the people who sang along at the top of their lungs.
Hearing songs live becomes part of the memory, everytime you hear it you can't help but remember the show. Listening through the album 'Electra Heart' it's not the same as it was before. They carry a bit more weight than they used to. They seem more meaningful.
That's the powerful thing about these songs, and the live performance. It's so vital to that core audience that they help to win over the people who know a few songs, and have a curiosity about the rest. The music means so much to everyone involved that they walk away feeling a bit better about everything.
Now listen to 'Fear and Loathing'.
We highly recommend you isten to Marina and the Diamonds music, and if you have the chance see them live! Check out more from Live Nation and Kool Haus.
Today would have been Jimi Hendrix' 70th birthday. Whether you're a huge fan of his music, or not; his music is very powerful. Some songs are unforgettable.
