Pleasurekraft: Live in London

The club may have changed names, but the fact we've seen and will continue to see some of the most innovative producer/dj's at Tabu has not changed.  When it was Diesel we saw names like Hatiras and Dillon Francis, and next up it's none other than the duo known as Pleasurekraft.  If your not sure about this, check out Pleasurekraft and their huge catalog on Beatport.

Tuesday, November 20th Pleasurekraft will be joined by local dj's Cosella and Fernando D'Oria.  Tickets are available now for $5, and go up to 10 at the door.  For more information, and to get tickets check out the Facebook event

You've got lots of notice, clear your schedule.  Plan to sleep in the next day, because if this event is anything like the latest shows we've attended it's bigger than you can imagine.  International dj legends in an intimate setting cannot be imitated, after the CNTRL show with Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice we're ready for this one!

Richie Hawtin LIVE!

Tonight Richie Hawting and his stellar lineup of Loco Dice, Ean Golden, and Victor Calderone bring the CNTRL tour to London Music Hall.  They've taken a different approach from so many EDM tours out there, with seminars on electronic music and technology preceding the shows in each city.

Check out this interview Richie and Loco Dice did last week with Sennheiser.  They explain what their motivation was behind the CNTRL tour and how the concept for the seminars came about.

Richie Hawtin himself is no stranger to Ontario.  The British born artist moved to Ontario when he was 9, his father worked in Robotics at General Motors, and introduced his son to artists like Kraftwerk.  Minutes from his home, techno was born in Detroit and Richie Hawtin has been involved ever since.  He's made records with countless, incredible artists, founded Plus 8 Records with John Acquaviva.  Hawtin's aliases are quite plentiful and Plastikman is the most famous moniker.

We had the extreme pleasure of catching a Richie Hawtin set a few years ago.  The Virgin Music Festival in Baltimore, 2008 featured a small dance stage with an absolutely out of this world lineup that included the Plastikman himself.  Hawtin is one of those artists that is so creative he excels far beyond the hype is legendary status earns.  Tickets are available here for $30.  Don't miss this one.

Blueprint: Live In London

Tonight at Call The Office, the legendary Blueprint is bringing his Deleted Scenes tour to London.  The album is as incredible as the lineup of talented artists that will be taking the stage alongside the Weightless Records founder.

Deleted Scenes began as some of the tracks from the sessions for Blueprint's album Adventures in Counter-Culture.  Recording 80+ tracks and taking 15 for that album, some of the ideas that didn't make that album became the foundation for Deleted Scenes.  The album is quite varied stylistically, something we've come to expect from Blueprint.  It includes a Radiohead cover, and a track featuring Terry Troutman from Zapp.

Blueprint has been crafting incredible music for years, from the first records on Weightless to his collaborations with RJD2 including the unforgettable verse from Dead Ringer on the track 'Final Frontier'.  Deleted Scenes shows both artistic diversity and a keen ability to stick to what makes Blueprint unique.  Few hip hop albums employ this structure anymore, and this record is stronger for it.  It's an amazing listen from beginning to end.

Admission for the show tonight is $10.  Have a listen to the album below, and buy it for $8 from bandcamp.com or click on the cover art above and get the album from iTunes.
