Photos: Darwin Deez live at Fortune Sound Club in Vancouver, Mar. 4/2013

These guys are making some of our favorite music nowadays.  Catchy uptempo rock jams for days.  Our good pal Matt went to see them on Monday at the incredible Fortune Sound Club and and nothing but great things to say.  Check out a couple photos below, and the rest here.  And make sure if you're in Vancouver you keep an eye on TimbreConcerts.com, as they are always bringing the best shows out there.

Photos / review: He's My Brother She's My Sister! Live @ Electric Owl in Vancouver, 26/01/13

So our good pal and supercontributor, Mr. Ian Thomson hit us up saying he had to go see this show.  We aren't to proud to say we weren't previously familiar with this band, so we checked em out. Of course, it took us about 30 seconds into the first listen and we were HUGE fans.  What an incredible band with an incredible and original sound.  Feel good music.  Here's a couple photos and Ian's quick review, and check out the rest of his awesome photos HERE!
Thanks so much to Ian, and to the band and their management for having us out!  Everyone support He's My Brother She's My Sister!
With accents reminiscent of a travelling circus, He's My Brother, She's My Sister take the stage to fill the air at the Electric Owl on this early Saturday. Hailing from LA, Robert and Rachel Kolar lead this unique 5-piece outfit including a lap steel, a custom hippie-painted double bass, and a percussionist who tap dances on a mic'd up wooden block. Somehow overshadowing the composure of this musical line up is Rachel's leopard print unitard, which allows her the freedom to wail on her favoured tambourine. They purvey lyrical sentiments no doubt inspired by the free love movement music of the 60's and 70's, coupled with artsy folk melodies and a subtle honky-tonk underlay, the room is forced into a boot-stomping dance party. Tonight He's My Brother, She's My Sister confirmed their growing reputation as a hard-working touring band, and I'd encourage anyone to go experience it live should you have the chance.
